The "Homer 2011" conference "Ancient maritime communities and the relationship between people and environment along the European Atlantic coasts"
will be held from 27th September to 1st October 2011 in Vannes (Brittany, France).
As deadline for registrations has been delayed, it is still possible (only for a few days) to pre-register for the conference.

Archeologia della vite. Ricerca e sostenibilità nel Montecucco

Il paesaggio rurale è il risultato della trasformazione dell’ambiente
naturale di un territorio ad opera delle comunità umane e quindi dei sistemi
socio-economici che nel corso del tempo vi si sono succeduti. Il paesaggio è
stato determinato dalla medesima storia che sta all�origine del patrimonio
archeologico ed architettonico. Vi è però una sostanziale differenza: il
paesaggio rurale è essenzialmente l’espressione della cultura materiale e
del lavoro finalizzato alla produzione di cibo e altre risorse. I paesaggi
della viticoltura costituiscono probabilmente il migliore esempio di questo
straordinario patrimonio culturale che può e deve ancora essere recuperato,
conservato e valorizzato attraverso la ricerca interdisciplinare e
necessariamente integrato con adeguate strategie economiche che ne
garantiscano la sostenibilità.
Durante il Convegno, con la Direzione scientifica di S. Campana, A. Ciacci,
A.Zifferero – Docenti dell’Università di Siena – G. Di Pasquale – Docente
dell’Università di Napoli - si parlerà dell’archeologia dei paesaggi e della
vite nella Toscana meridionale, della Letterature e del mito nella cultura
Etrusca e Romana, della genetica della vite e delle piante tra la Maremma e
le Crete Senesi, con interventi di Docenti delle Università di Siena,
Napoli, Padova, Milano e dell’Università di Philadelphia (USA) e
dell’Università di Cambridge (UK).
La seconda parte del convegno prevede una tavola rotonda coordinata da M.
Michel Gras – Direttore dell’Ecole Français de Rome- e Lorenzo Zanni –
Prorettore dell’Università di Siena- a cui partecipano Rappresentanti di
Enti e Associazioni, come Paolo Benvenuti � Direttore dell�Associazione
Nazionale Città del Vino - Emanuela Carpani – Sovrintendente per i Beni
Architettonici della Provincia di Siena, Mariarosaria Barbera Soprintendente
Archeologico della Toscana con altri colleghi della stessa Soprintendenza.
Al termine del Convegno è previsto il trasferimento alla Cantina di
Collemassari dove ci sarà una degustazioni di vini da Archeocucina. Chiude
il programma lo spettacolo teatrale della Compagnia V�Erasimile, dal titolo
�SPIRITI� tratto da Casa degli spiriti di Isabel Allende.
I Monaci della Comunità di Siloe offriranno la colazione alla fine della
prima parte dei lavori.

We are most pleased to remind you that, as it was unanimously
decided at the ICYE 2009 in Budapest, Hungary, the Fourth
International Congress for Young Egyptologists will be held on
22-25 September 2012 by the Bulgarian Institute of Egyptology
at New Bulgarian University in Sofia, Bulgaria. As previously
announced the topic of ICYE 2012 is "Cult and Belief in Ancient
Egypt".
As the time of the event approaches, we would like to invite all
students in Egyptology to participate in ICYE 2012. Also, we
would like to extend our invitation to every scholar working in this
field and willing to take part in the Congress.
On 1st September 2011 the application form for participation in the
congress, and details about the call-for-papers procedure will be
available on the official website of ICYE 2012: http://congress.nbu.bg .
Since it was first held in 2003 ICYE has proven to be a great
opportunity for young Egyptologists to not only exchange experience
and ideas among themselves, but also meet and be guided by the
most renowned figures in the field of Egyptology.
It would be a great honour for us to continue this tradition and at the
same time meet the challenge of making our contribution to enhancing
interaction among Egyptologists from different countries.
